I penned down the sun shine, You! An instance! Inscriptions settled down in a hub. Structuring words with seething radiance, Spread and Smoothened with the finger tips,Surfaced, a spectacular, ever changing landscape, Spelled a lifetime / Blending a new language, A simmering new journey / Co-travelling perpetuity.” -by Meena Chopra
Usually an abstract painter Meena’s new work is semi figurative with female form in most of her paintings which are pastels on paper. About 30 of her new works were displayed with 20 attractively framed poetic verse, both in English and Hindi with pastel drawings on them. These works of Meena are imbued with female energy in vibrant colours and semi nude and semi abstract forms. These forms are powerful and are in a kind of, not so defined circular movement. This movement gives the a specific rhythmic quality to her art and seems to be the heart of her art.
Meena says in her artistic statement, “Through my art I endeavour to search the co-existing universal duality. I try to find the totality in the influx of paradoxes in an effort to unlock the mysteries of life. I search the elusive reality of human consciousness through the lines, splashes of colours and the impressions of brush strokes on my canvasses and at times through pen and paper in the form verses.” when asked about the growing art scene of Mississauga and Canada, She said, “each of us is adding to the vibrant heritage of canadian diverse fabric in one way or the other. Every one has a story and my story is depicted through my art.” Meena is also a nominee of Mississauga Community Heritage Award (Individual) this year.
