  EAT Café and Catering
Review by Renu Mehta

If you're headed westbound from the downtown core on Dundas Street, you may almost miss this tiny restaurant just west of Dovercourt. But if you drive a little slower than usual (don't mind the cars behind) on Dundas West, and look carefully at the signs on the South side, you will find this compact and cozy café called EAT Café and Catering.

It's a snug and inviting place for sure. Done up in blacks and reds, the place is very clean and offers a smattering of cuisine. There is Italian pizza and pastas, but you also find Thai soup amongst other things. We ordered Thai Soup (delicious) that had a bit of an Indian touch with the traditional coriander adorning the soup bowl. The soup came in a large bowl and could be a complete meal for small eaters.

The main course we ordered was Pollo di diavolo, chicken breast seared with tangy spices also had a touch of the Indian onion/tomato masala. Served with French beans and pan roasted wedges, this was tasty too. We also ordered Pizza Margherita, a thin crust pizza with tomato herb sauce, fresh mozzarella and basil leaves.

The menu is different for dinner and includes soups and salads, appetizers and Mains and Desserts and is changed every six weeks. For instance, the current menu will change on May 1, 2004.

The food is delicious and if you want to get away from work then this is the place to head to. The meal is prepared and served tastefully. The café seats 30 people, and if you're lucky, you can get a table outdoors in the Summer.

I recommend these mouth watering morsels:
