Babur
doesn't have that typical decor and feel usually associated
with Indian Restaurants. When you enter, there's no clay
pots or sitar soundtrack on the stereo. What you get is
a 'Toronto cafe' ambiance, down to the checkered table covers,
and view of Queen Street. If you enjoy mild indian food,
with an atmosphere which is less in (dian) your face, then
you'll be comfortable here. The Goan Fish Curry is the highlight
of the menu, along with a wide variety of tandoor dishes.
Much to my disappointment, there were no notable desserts
except for the gulab jamun. The wait staff was pleasant,
but a little slow.
I recommend these mouth watering morsels:
Meat:
Goan
Fish Curry or Mango Chicken
Vegetarian: Shashlik Paneer from the tandoor
Desert: Gulab Jamun
Dinner for two:
Appetizers, 2 Dishes, Naan, Rice, Wine, Desert, Coffee
and Tip (I do it up right!): $82.00
Address:
5273 Queen St. W, Toronto
Between University and Spadina. (416)599-7720
Subway Stop : Osgoode
Area and Attractions: Queen St. W, AGO (Art Gallery
of Ontario), City Hall, Eaton Centre, Pantages Theatre,
Massey Hall. But if you like to shake your ass like I do,
the Club District is walking distance.
