Higher Grade Learning Centre

It was with great pleasure that I was able to finally sit down with someone I've heard nothing but wonderful things about - Satwinder Bains, Director of the Indo Canadian Studies Centre at UCFV. It was perfect timing since she recently came back from the UCFV India Study Tour with a class of 20 students. When speaking about the class trip to India, it is obvious that Satwinder is very passionate her involvement with UCFV and the Centre for Indo Canadian Studies. The same passion and thirst for knowledge resonates in her students as well.

Higher Grade Learning Centre

Back in 2003, an innovative enterprise opened its doors to surrey. A mere year later a second office was opened in Vancouver. Within its first three years the business was both nominated, and made finalist for the surrey business excellence award. This innovative company, which has caused quite a stir in the market, is Higher Grade Learning Centre. The Centre, as it is endearingly called by staff and students, is an educational facility where educated professionals assist children of all ages with their academic goals.

Often people assume that tutoring is like training wheels, and that once a child is signed up they're grades are going to race ahead easily. On the contrary, Higher Grade emphasizes that tutoring can only be effective with the cooperation of 4 key people: the student, the tutor, the parents and the school teacher. In order for students to be successful in academia, all four need to work together closely. This is what makes Higher Grade unique. The company has set up an intricate system which allows for regular communication between all four parties, especially the school teacher. In addition to this Higher Grade thinks it imperative to have qualified people on board who can assist the students effectively. There are a total of 18 full-time and part-time staff members at Higher Grade Learning Centre. All of them specialize in their subject area and are able to offer great insight to students.

Higher Grade insists on enhancing students grades, and his/her abilities as an independent learner. Tutors offer fun filled interpretations of key issues related to math, English, Science, and Social Studies. Whatever a Childs academic need may be Higher Grade is equipped to assist them. Higher Grade caters to students from ages 3 to 18 and has approximately 400 students active in the system at any given time. It also offers an assessment test, which accurately gauges your Childs abilities, and weaknesses as a student. But perhaps the most thrilling aspect of Higher Grade is the abundance of programs it offers to its clientele. Be it pre-school, exam prep, a crash course in Gr.6 math, summer camp, or summer school, Higher Grade prides itself in the fact that no child, will go "unhelped".

What started as a lone vision in a small space has been cultivated with much care in the past four years; and the result is a dynamic, thriving company that aims to spread one simple message: education is power.

Higher Grade is constantly growing and adding new programs, or initiatives to its fold, to gain the most up to date, and in depth info visit them on their website at www.highergrade.ca
