Inner Weight Loss

Ever been walking somewhere and catch your reflection in the mirror? Within that quick second 50 million thoughts go through your head…I look so fat, my hair is a mess, I really should work on my posture, the sales lady lied to me green is not my colour, what was I thinking wearing these tight pants and so forth. Wow…that quick second made you think of so many negative thoughts. Now you head straight for the closest restaurant and order all the WRONG foods. What is wrong with this picture? You are turning to food (the WRONG food) to make you feel fulfilled or make you feel better. Great…now you have horrible thoughts of yourself and you are feeling sluggish and stuffed because of the food you ate.

Whether you want to lose weight or if you have lost a large amount of weight, it is important to realize that you have to work on your inner self as well. So many people will lose a large amount of weight and still feel fat. They may be so use to feeling a certain way and achieving their weight loss goal may still not make them feel good about themselves. Yes, achieving a healthy weight will make you feel better to some extent. It will give you more energy, make you look good physically and so forth. But if you have achieved a healthy weight and still have many negative thoughts about yourself then STOP. It is time to look a little deeper and lose your inner negative weight.

If you are bored, depressed or stressed. Turn to exercise. Exercise releases endorphins, which is a feel good hormone. If you don't feel like going to gym then do something at home. Buy an exercise DVD, maybe even something fun like salsa or belly dancing. For something more calming try Pilates or yoga. Read a book, take a long bath, soak your feet or do something to treat yourself (non-food related). Find a hobby that is you!

If you always have negative thoughts about yourself. Think of one positive thing to say to yourself every few hours. Post them somewhere so you see them often and let them sink into your mind. Surround yourself with people that love you and really learn to enjoy them. And if there is something that you really don't like about yourself then don't just sit there, change it. For example, if it is your posture you don't like then remind yourself often to sit up straight or walk straight. A great way to have perfect posture is to pull your belly in and up, this will automatically pull your shoulders back. Work on yourself for you!

You have the munchies and no form of exercise or bath is going to help. Give in a little, have 1/3 of the unhealthy snack and have 2/3 of a healthy snack. Healthy snacks may include Melba toast with peanut butter or with light cream cheese, light popcorn, dry cereal, granola bars and fruits and vegetables. Just to name a few.

Give yourself a break and be nice to yourself. Would you want to be around someone that treated you the way you treat yourself? So the next time you walk by a mirror think of something positive to say about yourself because you are your own best friend not enemy. And remember you only have one life to live so make it a positive one!
