Job Opportunity – Executive Director

Canadian Community Arts Initiative is a non-for-profit organization dedicated to a more effective role of arts and culture in Canadian community. Based in Mississauga, the organization seeks an Executive Director to run its operations. CCAI is also presenter of Mosaic – South Asian Heritage Festival of Mississauga, Mosaic Film Festival, and Rock the Coliseum, a FREE Indie music festival.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position must have a post-secondary degree or diploma and have at least 5 years experience with a proven track record of grant writing and fundraising in the arts sector.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive arts administration background, ideally in non-for-profit sector, with knowledge of local festivals and arts and culture industry, combined with excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in flexible routine. The work is conducted in friendly yet professional environment and requires diplomacy and tact: contact with artists, donors and board members requires patience and commitment. This position requires a self-motivated person and who has an appreciation for a small institution and a gift for communicating across federal and provincial funding bodies as well as sponsors and donors along the cultural and artistic lines.

This position provides a unique opportunity to combine strong management and producing skills with an artistic aesthetic. This is a high intensity organization and the person must be able to meet deadlines. Ability to take minutes during board meetings, communicate efficiently with board, executive committee and membership is must. Proficiency in MS-Office is required. Working knowledge Adobe Suite preferred but not mandatory.

Additional Information

ED reports directly to the Chair of the board.

This is a part-time position. Some driving will be involved so you must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle. The company compensates for mileage if you are required to drive outside of a 50-kilometre radius surrounding Mississauga. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required. Festival week will require full-time participation with additional hours added if needed.
