MYBINDI.COM HONOURED AT ICCC SILVER JUBILEE AWARDS GALA

TORONTO, June 22, 2002 – MyBindi was presented with the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce Youth Achievement Award in recognition for co-founding MyBindi.com, Canada's leading on-line South Asian community. This prestigious award was presented at the 25th Anniversary Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala. The founders were selected based on their leadership, innovation and contribution to the community. In the words of Renu Mehta, VP of ICCC, "MyBindi has become an essential part of the South Asian lifestyle. It has allowed our youth to take pride in their heritage and culture."

Starting as a wedding website in February 2000, MyBindi.com now includes several channels including Weddings, Arts and Entertainment, Community, and Lifestyle. Since it's launch, the websites has consistently grown in terms of content, functionality and reach. "We are amazed at the extent to which the community has rallied around us. Without the support and contribution of thousands of members and volunteers, MyBindi would not be a success." states Charles Smid, co-founder and creative director of MyBindi.com. In addition to it's extensive website, MyBindi.com has a powerful offline presence. It has organized such unique events as the First Annual MyBindi Awards Show, MyBindi Comedy Night, dating night Mix Fridays and the ever-popular theme parties, MyBindi Thursdays. These events have attracted thousands of young South Asians as well as media, local celebrities, politicians, artists and business leaders. MyBindi has also worked with organizations such as the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and Cineplex Odeon to promote their South Asian programming.
