BOBBY BROWN -
"The Launch of a New Era
in Canadian Television"

Mini BIO
Producer/Director/Writer Bobby Brown was
introduced to the entertainment industry straight out of
high school, back in 1989 by his good friend and colleague
Wayne Williams. “I was ready to become an architect
when Wayne found me playing at a small club in Oakville”.
Wayne introduced Bobby to Rhythm Radio which later became
Energy 108 and the dynamic duo rocked the air ways and club
land throughout the nineties. Bobby fell in love with the
industry almost immediately and decided this is where he
wanted to be. He studied recording arts in 92 and began
recording hit club anthems like “STOMP” and
“Mind Games” in 93 and remixing for local artists
like Jully Black.
In 97 Bobby’s desire to continue to evolving in the
industry lead him back to school to study television arts
and science where he learned to produce, write and director
for television and film. Since then he has worked on numerous
television series, documentaries and comedy specials as
well as directed numerous live, multi camera, concerts and
events. “There’s 2 things I love about this
industry. The people I meet and interact with on a daily
basis and the pressure of the game. I get off on the adrenaline
rush that comes with producing or directing the impossible.”
Bobby’s latest project is called ECHO, a ground breaking
new television series that showcases success stories of
minorities in mainstream. “I got tired of seeing minorities
represented as 2 people sitting in front of a flower pot
on Sunday morning talking about how great the latest Bollywood
movie is…..That’s not me or any of my friends.”
ECHO is a smart and sexy entertaining half hour, magazine
style program, that showcases the strides, achievements,
and personalities of successful, second and third generation
Canadians and beyond. Focused mainly on the South Asian,
Asian and Black communities of Toronto, ground breaking
program will provide a platform for the newest generation
of minorities who have excelled in their respective fields,
on a mainstream level.
“This show is beyond exciting and will likely change
(fingers crossed) the way ethnic programming is produced
in North America.”
Echo airs Saturdays @ 1:30pm on SUN TV, and features stories
on the likes of Russell Peters, Lisa Ray, Gurinder Chada,
Manny Maholtra, Anokhi Vibe, Tina Sugandh, Ruby Dhalla and
a story on
My Bindi.com.
Bobby is currently in development on 2 short films that
he is looking to produce and direct in early 2006. “When
I started on this journey, I wrote on my wall that I would
produce and direct my first feature film by 2008. And I’m
right on track” he says with a smile as he crosses
his fingers.
