Vasanti Makeover
"i love my colour!"

I first heard about Vasanti Cosmetics when I lived in Toronto years ago and it was refreshing to see a line catering to women of South Asian descent. I'm not really big on make-up in general, therefore, I actually didn't get a chance to try the line until recently.

I wasn't aware that Vasanti does regular makeover and consultations at select Shoppers Drug Marts across Canada. Coincidentally, a new Shoppers Drug Mart opened up in my neighbourhood (I live in Surrey, BC now) and I happened to see the advertisement when I went into the store. I immediately thought, now is the time to try it out! I booked myself for the Vasanti Makeover and Consultation session and anxiously awaited the days to go by until my appointment.

When I finally went in for my appointment, I was greeted by a young cheerful Vasanti make-up artist named Aytan. She was excited to get to work, use my face as her canvas and make me look beautiful. Like the majority of South Asian women out there (and women from all ethnicities as a whole), it's always been a major challenge for me to find a foundation that matches my skin tone - mainly because my skin tone is blotchy and tends to change drastically throughout the seasons. I also suffer from dry skin and allergies, which is probably every make-up artist's worse nightmare when working on a client. This is undoubtedly the toughest skin type to take care of and put make-up on.

Aytan was absolutely wonderful! She educated me on the variety of Vasanti products and was very honest with me about which products/colours suited my skin type and complexion. I was extremely pleased with the results and purchased a number of Vasanti products when we were done our session. Needless to say, I didn't walk out of there looking like a clown! - which has always been my worst fear when it comes to wearing makeup.

I've heard one of the most common problems that South Asian women face is dark circles under the eyes. Vasanti has an answer to this problem. They've created an eye cream called Eye Wonder and the main purpose is to combat this problem and decrease puffiness around the eyes. Another Vasanti product that gets rave reviews is the "Wonders of the World concealer" which is a combination of undereye corrective colour and all over concealer. I've been using Vasanti products for the past month and will post my results over the next few months.
