Small World proudly presents the 14th Edition of its Asian Music Series – embracing the scope of sounds from across the Asian cultural landscape.
Partnering with the premier presenters across the region, the program is highlighted by a strong female presence, with two of the most significant artists in South Asian music – Anoushka Shankar and Abida Parveen performing.
Pakistani singer Abida Parveen is one of the most prominent and influential South Asian musicians of our time. A pioneering artist who has taken on a form dominated by males, she performs deeply passionate interpretations of Sufi poetry accompanied by her rousing group. A rare North American appearance by an artist the Guardian called “the greatest female Sufi singer in history”.
