MD Foundation, a Mississauga based not-for-profit is pleased to announce the resounding success of DEEWA-The Festival of Lights which took place on November 14, 2015, at the Living Arts Centre, Mississauga.
“Deewa-The Festival of Lights was a huge success,” says Linda Thomas, Executive Director, MD Foundation.
“This would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors, volunteers and all the artists who participated in the event. MD Foundation would like to thank everyone for making this event a hit.”
DEEWA featured some of the most promising South Asian Canadian Talent at the festival. This included singers Pratik Peters and Shrija, dance groups Sanskriti Arts Ensemble and Entertainment, Shaan Punjab Dee, Nrithyakshetra Dance Academy, Afsana Dance Group, South Asian Alliance (York University) and illusionist Raman Sharma. The concert was headlined by Award Winning UK R&B Artist of Kolaveri Di fame Arjun.
Kids lined up at the arts zone to get their faces painted and create special Diwali crafts and people thronged the market place to get free samples, get henna on their hands and enjoy the performances by various cultural groups through out the day.
DEEWA also showcased latest designs in a fashion show by Satya Paul Canada.
