Bollywood Dance Aficionado’s Get The Unique Opportunity To Train With Ace Choreographer Saroj Khan

Sanskriti Arts Ensemble and Imagebuilderz present Dance Diaries with the renowned Saroj Khan


A unique opportunity for Bollywood dance aficionados to learn the art of popular dance under the tutelage of one of Bollywood’s best choreographers’ and get a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform with the choreographer on stage during the final showcase.

The first event of its kind in Canada, Dance Diaries will allow Bollywood enthusiasts to train with leading dance director Saroj Khan who is credited with choreographing some of Bollywood’s most popular numbers including Ek Do Teen from Tezaab, Dhak Karne Laga from Beta and more recently Gun Guna Re from Agneepath and Dil Mera Muft Ka from Agent Vinod. The workshops will be half day (on first day only), full-day or one on one sessions between March 25 and March 28, 2016 in Toronto and Ottawa and will allow students to learn directly from Saroj Khan the moves to some of her evergreen popular classics.

“It’s all about learning from the pioneers who started it. We all live and breathe Bollywood and this 4-day intensive workshop is an opportunity to learn from the Masters themselves,” says Puja Amin, director of Sanskriti Arts Ensemble.

The workshops will take place at the Sanskriti Arts Dance and Fitness Studios in Mississauga and will be conducted for kids and adults. The Kid’s Class will take in age groups five to 11 years and the Adult’s Class will take in age groups 12 and above.

The workshop will run for four days from March 25 to March 28 with the final showcase taking place on the evening of March 28 in Mississauga, where students who have been part of the workshop for at least two sessions will get the unique opportunity to perform live on stage with Dance Maestro Saroj Khan

“The main motivation behind this is to provide a cross cultural dance platform for kids and adults in Canada and learn from the best of the best in the industry.  And who better than Saroj Khan, whose name is synonymous with choreography and Bollywood, to provide that training,” says Renu Mehta, president of Imagebuilderz.

About Saroj Khan

Saroj Khan is one of the most prominent Indian dance choreographers in Hindi cinema. She has choreographed for more than 2000 films.  She began her career as a child artist at age three in film Nazarana, and learnt dance while working under film choreographer B. Sohanlal. Later she became an assistant choreographer getting her break as an independent choreographer, with Geeta Mera Naam (1974).

She went on to become one of most successful Bollywood choreographers of all time.  Her fame came with her work with leading ladies of Bollywood, Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit – Hawa Hawai in Mr India (1987), Nagina (1986) and Chandni (1989);  and with Madhuri Dixit, starting with the hit song Ek Do Teen in Tezaab (1988), Tamma ; Loge in Thanedaar (1990) and Dhak Karne Laga in Beta (1992), Gulab Gang (2014)
