Dear MyBindi Readers
I have
received numerous e-mails from MyBindi readers wanting to
inquire about were they should go to obtain additional information
about services that are available for people that are new
in the country and also refugees. Finding the right person
to help can be a very frustrating task and can also leave
you feeling quite lonely.
Toronto
has many agencies that provide assistance for newcomers
and refugees. They provide services such as assisting individuals
with their foreign educational certificates (degrees and
diplomas), English as second language workshops, assisting
with resumes/cover letters, helping people complete job
applications and a lot more. Please refer to the social
services list at the bottom of this page, if you can not
find a agency in your area or if you have a more specific
concern please e-mail with the details and I will do my
best to guide you in the right direction.
Many
College and/or University campuses can also be a invaluable
source of information. They often have groups that cater
to certain segment of the population and can also provide
newcomers and refugees with additional support and guidance.
Remember
that you are never alone, there are always people that can
help you.
