SAFA - South Asian Family Association (new) The SAFA organization started almost 5 years ago by Suki Grewal, her husband Ajit and a few close friends. With all the negative attention on South Asians in the media, SAFA wanted to provide the younger generation with a positive platform to learn about their South Asian roots through arts and culture.

South Asian Alliance
(SAA) (new)
Founded in 1998, the South Asian Alliance is one of the largest non-profit, student-run organizations in Canada. With six chapters across Ontario the SAA represents a membership base of over 10,000 students. The SAA organizes a variety of large-scale social, academic, cultural, and humanitarian events to achieve its goal of unity through such events.

Sikh Centennial Foundation (new)
The Sikh Centennial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1997 to commemorate the centenary of Sikh settlement in Canada. Since then it has been privileged to be in the forefront of promoting Sikh and, generally, South Asian heritage and culture by promoting awareness and understanding of Sikh and South Asian milestones and organizing the celebration of major Sikh events; and celebrating the participation and excellence achieved by Sikhs in all aspects of civil, social and cultural life.

Developments in Literacy (new)
DIL's main purpose is to work for the eradication of illiteracy, in the remote and neglected areas of Pakistan, by establishing primary and secondary level non-formal schools for underprivileged children. DIL, has succeeded, in a period of five years, in establishing 200 schools in Pakistan in collaboration with various NGO's.

has been around for 13 years providing services
to people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. It was set
up in response to the deaths of two HIV+ South Asians who
died in isolation because they were unable to find services
in their own language
