About the Book:
The contemporary Indian woman is facing a struggle on several fronts to find her rightful place in society, to claim her rights at home, in the community, and at her workplace and most significantly to realise her inner self and her aspirations in order to give expression to those urgings.
These few stories are a microcosm of the silent and not so silent battles raging around women’s lives. Whether it is young Rasna who wants to break free of the patriarchal bonds or Kamini and Sujata who desire to be liberated from the shackles of domestic existence, their experiences represent the answer to every problem of a woman’s life.
Read about the mundane everyday lives of these women to reflect on the impending upheaval in Indian society if the present generation fails to embrace changing trends brought about by girls’ education. The stories also dwell on agonising marital relationships and its acute sensitivities.

‘Of Infidels and Infidelity’ is a must read for all women, especially the modern Indian women, as it not only relates deeply to her struggles and dilemmas of relationships but also reverberates with her strong spirit to be herself and break free from the shackles of dogmas and limitations of her culture and traditions that she finds suffocating and restrictive. The author, Manju Dhall, has put forward a very captivating collection of short stories. These stories remain, rather, linger on in you. They make you ponder about the challenges and decisions of a 20th century woman trying to carry the Indian values, culture and traditions and her acute need to soar free spirited above them without feeling of guilt, shame, and mostly thoughts of what the society will make of them.
