Although the image of Tibetan culture
– and particularly the message of the Dalai Lama –
has been overwhelmingly pacifist, it is not surprising that,
after fifty years, there is a new generation of Tibetan
refugees who have something different to say. Destiny’s
Children captures the hopes, fears and frustrations of the
younger generation of exiled Tibetans and attempts to learn
what might drive these spiritual people to engage in desperate,
even violent, actions in the name of freedom for their country.
Through discussion and poetry, split-screen video images
and radical analysis, this film presents an alternative
view that is new to the screen.
