New Westminster Nagar Kirtan




On Saturday, June 21st, New Westminster and Khalsa Diwan Society celebrated its inaugural “Sikh Day”. This year’s event was again held to commemorate the martyrdom of the Sikh’s fifth Guru, Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji. Thousands of people attended and enjoyed the festivities. Numerous events and exhibitions were held throughout the day including: music, historical seminars, dastar and khalsa dress competitions, sports events, martial arts and discussion groups.

The event brought out world famous Sikh scholars and musicians such as: Bhai Pritpal Singh Bains, Bhai Davinder Singh Sodhi, Hari Nam Singh Khalsa and Giyani Ranjit Singh Gohar. Overall, it was impressive to see how many Sikhs and non-Sikhs came out to the event. Everyone was enjoying the food and festivities while learning about Sikhism. Congratulations to Khalsa Diwan Socity and the City of New Westminster for organizing another successful event!
