| Brown Sketch Comedy Jam
It's Bigger… Hairier…and BROWNER!!! For ONE NIGHT ONLY @ The PANASONIC THEATRE!!! On Friday August 24th, 2007 at 7 p.m.
Following five hilarious sold-out shows, Fade to Brown has revamped their most crowd-pleasing sketches to bring you a one-night engagement that will leave you begging for more brown. In this twist on the classic musical, the Whites duke it out with the Jatts - and by Jatts, we're of course referring to the warriors of the Northern Indian state, Punjab. The story unfolds through a series of stand-alone sketches and musical numbers that tie together to create the Story that is truly on the Side of Brown, in this Brown Side Story.
Featuring wicked humour with a distinctly South Asian flavour, these unique performances are the first of their kind to be performed in Toronto. Sparked by rising comedic stars from different backgrounds, the Fade to Brown team features a diverse cast of writers, actors, singers, and improv comedians. Don't miss this spicy masala of outrageous and groundbreaking comedy exploring Bollywood, relationships, and cultural identity.
Fade to Brown's purpose and drive is to bring to light the absurdity of the cultural differences that divide us. Once people start laughing about an issue, no matter how taboo it may be, they can start talking about it. It's only after people start thinking and talking about these things that they can change for the better. It's important for a culture's survival that it is able to adapt to a changing world. Comedy is a great catalyst for this adaptation.
Fade to Brown is also pleased to announce a search for media partners to benefit from the electrifying wave of growth for the group. With the launch of our website (www.fadetobrown.com), our large-scale show in August, and developing a 1-hour TV special for several networks, we are expecting a significant leap in awareness and escalation. Organizations are asked to contact Executive Producer Amish Patel to discuss this exciting opportunity.
Fade to Brown's comedy masterfully walks a clever line of great comedy, edgy-ness, while still maintaining mass appeal to all audiences both young and old, whether South Asian or not. We invite you to join us this summer on what promises to be a fantastic ride.
