What do you get when you take a rising record label, a great producer by the name of Aman Hayer, and an arsenal of some of the finest and freshest bhangra singers? You get Genie Records’ compilation album "Genie-Us” (titled “Survivor Series” in Canada), a 12-song compilation combining party-worthy, fusion, traditional, and remixed tracks. As seems to be the trend these days and appealing to a wide array of listeners, the album stays true to the formula and has something for the young and young at heart. Vocals provided by Kuldeep Manak, K.S. Makhan, and Lehmber Hussanpuri to name a few do the songs justice and do not disappoint. The only downside was the title “Survivor Series” for the Canadian version as it sounded somewhat odd for an Asian album; sounds like a soundtrack for the WWF (I still call it that okay). Highly recommended tracks include “Billo”, “Yaar”, and “Rang”……Oye Hoye!!!
