"Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai" is a story of sacrifice and true love. Durga (Ameesha Patel) is a young blind girl who lives with her mother. Although Durga is blind, she has a special talent of making clay statues. While on her way to sell the statues, Durga ends up in danger after the cart she's on almost goes over a cliff. Rohit (Arjun Rampal) rescues Durga and they fall in love with each other. Rana (Parmeet Sethi), the local villain wants to marry her and tries to rape her but luckily her mother arrives just in time to save her.
Rohit takes Durga to the hospital to have her eyes operated on so she can get back her eyesight. The operation goes well and Rohit goes off to begin preparations for their wedding. On the way, Rana and his goons attack Rohit and Rohit dies. Now Durga has gained her sight but lost the one she loved. She attempts suicide but is saved by a doctor. Durga explains her reasons for committing suicide and the doctor takes her under his wing.
They go to Switzerland where she meets Raj (Bobby Deol). Raj falls in love with Durga but Durga is still in mourning for Raj and wants to be left alone. Raj tells Durga that he has also lost someone dear to him and understands how she feels. Raj shows Durga the picture of his best friend who turns out to be Rohit but because Durga had never seen Rohit's face, she does not recognize him. Durga finally gives in to Raj and they decide to get married. At the engagement party, Raj receives a call from the hospital and finds out that Rohit is alive. What happens next, would Durga be able to recognize Rohit or will she get married to Raj?
This movie had been delayed for a long time but finally got released. There seems to be quite a few movies being made with characters that have disabilities such as being blind, deaf or dumb but if you're going to make movies with characters that have disabilities, please make them more realistic. The movie soundtrack has a couple of good songs but nothing worth mentioning. Good performances from all the actors, however, Ameesha's portrayal of a blind girl was not at all realistic. Ameesha plays a mute character in "Teesri Aankh" which is probably the worst movie I have seen this year so far. Maybe she'll be better in "Ankahee", where she will be supported by Esha Deol and Aftab Shivdasani and her boyfriend is also the director.
