Baba Sikander (Mithun Chakraborty),
the mighty king of fear is causing havoc in India. He is
threatening Kantilal Shah who has to pay Baba in order to
stay alive. Kantilal’s adopted son Karan (Rahul Khanna)
has returned to India to help his father. He convinces his
father to not pay the ransom much to the displeasure of
Kantilal’s daughter (Ritu Shivpuri). Baba carries
out the execution of Kantilal and Karan vows to bring Baba
back to India where he can pay for his deeds.
Karan recruits Arjun (Arjun
Rampal) who is an ex-police officer to help him get Baba.
It takes some time for Karan to convince Arjun to help him
but eventually Arjun agrees. Arjun then recruits Abhimanyu
(John Abraham) who is an ex-member of Baba’s gang.
Abhimanyu brings his girlfriend Sonia (Lara Dutta) into
the group and the last member is Priya (Amisha Patel) who
is a news reporter.
Together they target Baba and
his gang and run Baba back into India where he succumbs
to the hands of justice. Elaan is a good action movie, which
brought back Mithun to the big screen. Mithun has always
been one of my favorite stars and it was fantastic watching
him in one of his few negative roles. The last being in
the movie “Jurmana” where he also acted in a
double role and he won an award for the negative character
he portrayed in the film.
Arjun is great in action scenes
and so is John who is getting better which each movie. Rahul
is okay but I still see him as the guy in “Bollywood
Hollywood”. The soundtrack features tracks like “Dua
Karna” which is an item number shot on Lara Dutta,
then there’s “Dil Mein Hulchul” and “Bechain
Mera Dil”. You can catch Lara Dutta in her next release
“Jurm” opposite Bobby Deol.
