I?m so busy I?m so busy I?m so busy. Have you noticed how these three little words have a way of creating an overwhelming amount of work , cutting into your rest and relaxation time? By making this connection you have also experienced the power of a mantra.
Our brains are designed to have thousands of thought for every blink of the eye. It is a misperception that meditation means attaining a place of thoughtlessness. It is virtually impossible! By taking time out to meditate, you actually give yourself time to observe the thoughts that you are thinking. And then ask yourself the question, is this thought that I am thinking helpful? Is it uplifting and positive? Does it create an atmosphere of comfort and security in my life or am I bringing myself down in some way?
Affirmations
Offering a more positive thought is called an affirmation. These are consciously chosen thoughts, generally in English, used to recreate your reality, to invite people, circumstances and opportunities into your life to assist in your journey. Affirmations are a powerful way to focus the mind. They are so easy to use, just repeat silently or out loud when you are washing dishes, in the shower, walking the dog. No one needs to know, and you will feel the difference.
Here are some examples:
The love that I am seeking is seeking me.
I live in an abundant Universe and all the resources that I need are lovingly available to me.
I am an unlimited being.
Mantras are part of the science of yoga. A mantra is a sound vibration, usually in a sacred language like Arabic, Gurmukhi, or Sanskrit that stimulates the meridian points in the mouth and glands in the brain. Using a mantra before or during your meditation practice is a way of tuning your mind into the experience, preparing yourself for your practice.

OM – calling on the universal consciousness
Shanti – peace
Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo – calling on the teacher within
