Shiamak's Winter Funk 2011 at the Hammerson Hall
Training and technique will come to the fore as Shiamak’s students from Toronto bring the stage to life at Shiamak’s Winter Funk 2011!
Tracing Shiamak’s life journey at the Winter Funk this year, students will dance to songs choreographed by the guru of modern and contemporary dance. ‘My students have always been by pillars of strength, it is a beautiful gift for them to pick my songs to dance on this winter Funk!’ said Shiamak.
Shiamak who received an honorary doctorate from the Middlesex University, London this year has formalized unique dance styles that are taught exclusively at his dance school. Shiamak’s Indo-Jazz which combines indo contemporary and modern movements with a strong ballet grounding and performance based visuals; focuses on technique. Bollywood Jazz, a favorite amongst students’ works as a great stress buster, combines jazz technique taught to latest Bollywood songs.
The highlights of the show include performances by Shiamak’s Toronto Teen and Adult Dance Team, the show also includes Bollywood hits including Chammak Chalo and Ainvayi ainvayi. ‘Toronto has great potential. Students here have a certain energy that makes them great performers on stage!’ exclaimed Dr. Davar.
