Performers Announced For South Asian Heritage Day

Mississauga, ON- The Mississauga St. Michael?s Majors in partnership with MyBindi.com and Desi Wear are pleased to announce the performers for ?South Asian Heritage Day,? that will take place on Sunday January 31 when the Majors host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 2:00 p.m at the Hershey Centre.

HERE The festivities begin when the gates open at 1:00 p.m. including live musical performances by: Naomi Zaman, Prita Chhabra, Zameer Rizvi, and Ess. There will also be free samples of cultural dishes and sweets, and CBC’s Punjabi Broadcaster Parminder Singh will be on-hand, and participating in a ceremonial puck drop. Joining Parminder, will be Rogers TV broadcasting partner Binder Singh. Sanskriti Arts Ensemble will also be performing a Bollywood dance number.

Naomi Zaman was crowned “Miss Pakistan 2005” and will be performing her debut single “Rock Desi” which will be available on iTunes on January 26.
 
Prita Chhabra has performed on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, she also opened for Jay Sean at the Hershey Centre earlier this year. Prita is currently on tour with Canadian Comedian Russell Peters.
 
Zameer Rizvi will be performing his hit single “Win or Defeat.” The song was produced in partnership with Canada’s Paralympic Team, and can be seen regularly on MuchMusic and MTV worldwide.
 
Ess is a local Mississauga artist who will be performing songs from his debut album “Interview.”
 
Sanskriti Arts Ensemble is a dance and yoga centre teaching dance, music, yoga, tabala and much more.
