• Services philosophy starts from welfare to farewell by offering basic needs such as food security (food bank, community kitchen ) and information, counselling support and referral service for community capacity building for independent and successful life in Canada.
Who is walking through the OICS doors (Our Clients)
• New immigrants struggling with survival jobs and settlement neds
• Refugees claimants, conventional refugees
• Young unemployed/under employed parents, raising their young children
• Sole support mothers (immigrants/broken sponsorships, victims of domestic violence
• Broken sponsorship( immigrant seniors, individuals)
• Full time unemployed students, youth at risk
• EI, ODSP, OW recipients (landed immigrants and citizens)
• People with disabilities (landed and Canadian citizens)
What OICS Offer
Community Social services hub for all above said groups with the following assistance
• Emergency food supplies with full range of 7-to 10 days (including full grocery, dairy, fruits, vegetables, baby products, formula, diapers, household use items.
• A community kitchen, place for ready food, soup, healthy snacks to feed families and individuals in need.
• Information, training and counselling and recreation platform for various groups such as youth, mothers and seniors.
• Social enclosure, information and referral platform for many other programs such as settlement ( housing, OW, EI, ODSP, education, employment support) services
• After school program for youth at risk with healthy snacks and cozy hub.
• Community capacity building by linking with other programs and services such as employment preparation and matching services.

• First and only community kitchen/food bank that house newcomer settlements ,employment support, counselling, information and referral services to many community groups in the Region of Peel.
• Newcomers find OICS as a big support during their transitory settlement period, spend quality time with their children, focus more on professional jobs instead of going for additional survival shift work for their basic needs during first couple of months after landing in Canada.
• Families find OICS as additional short term support while they are seeking help for settlement, employment, housing and education and training needs.
• EI recipients feel more focused for their job search with supplement of food supplies which result into their quicker return in the Canadian workforce.
• OW, ODSP recipients find it strong support while getting out of their situation, training and skills development for resettlement of their lives.
• Youth at risk find it social, educational and comfortable place to learn and enjoy their time, which minimize their chances of becoming at risk youth due to isolation insufficient healthy social enclosure.
OICS SERVING (clients #)
• 150-200 families (300-400 people) per month for food bank, with an increase turnover of 15%.
• 200-250 clients per month use community kitchen, fruits & vegetables supplies (other than food bank) with an increase of 10%.
• 150-200 seniors use community kitchen, OICS information group session for their social recreation and social enclosure activities.
• 35-50 young children are enrolled in our afterschool program and seek homework assistance as well as healthy snacks from the facility.
• 25-30 young mothers joins our moms club for sharing, learning and exploring new recipes, parenting tips, social and work balance and fun time in their own community kitchen.
• 25-30 children each month come and have fun time at OICS and make friends in safe setting.
100-150 newcomer clients each month seek information, counselling and referral support for their various settlement needs including employment, housing, education and training support.
What difference OICS is making to the lives of Peel residents;1. Presently there is no other than OICS non denominational food bank in Malton. (various churches, temples and mosques run food banks for the people who attend the worship places.
2. First and only community kitchen in entire City of Mississauga.
3. No other than OICS food bank/community kitchen that also offer counselling, information and referral service.
4. OICS is the only kind of agency that focus on working poor/immigrants, industrial workers landed immigrants(EI, OW , ODSPrecipients), newcomers who are struggling with survival jobs/factory shift work, young parents raising young children and missing the quality time to spend with their children due to economical pressure.Practical/effective outreach to community in need
5. OICS has adopted very practical methodology for reaching out to the community in need such as taking the services in public school (afters-school program) peel living housing apartment buildings(youth leadership and homework assistance program).
6. Community corner at OW, malls, public library, places of worship etc.
7. Distribute program flyers in the neighbourhood through Canada post, Industrial coffee trucks in the Media Partners (OUTREACH)

• The boarder coordinate Dixie and Derry give an easy one bus access to residents of Mississauga East, Malton and Brampton south for OICS services.
• More than 40 medium industries are located on walking distance, working poor, new immigrants who do not have access to private cars come easily to OICS
• There are more than 10 places of worship including churches, Sikh/Hindu temples, Muslim mosques who are potential referral sources many eligible clients for OICS services.
• There are two busy banquet halls the same plaza which are quite busy for various community events and celebrations and people come to enquire.
• White knights motel is the same plaza busy with many newcomer, refugee individuals and families seek our service.
• Canada post sorting station is next to OICS is willing to offer volunteer outreach in the area for specific clients for our programs.
