A Modern Twist To Indian Beauty & The Art of Mehndi - Makeup Trends for 2010
Seasonal fashion trends carry over into makeup to bring a whole new concept to capture attention. 2010 will bring us contrast as models are showing us how to define our favorite features. Today's top trend is au-natural but there is a lot of definition for the eyes, lips and cheeks. Purple still takes center stage as this season's must-have color for eyes. Don't worry about matching eye shadow and clothing, contrast is current and quite fashionable.
To stay modern, up-do-date with the eyes, forget the liquid liners, it's all about eye pencils. Complement your eyes by using a simple liner that adds a touch of mystique to your eyes without overwhelming your overall look. Available in a range of colors, you can mix and blend. Don't be afraid to extend the lines a little further to get a distinctive, nighttime look. Mascara does double-duty by adding length plus volume, which is always the icing on the cake. Sheer, mineral makeup is growing in popularity with those who don't necessarily need or want too much. There is a variety of powder foundations, blushes, and eye-shadows. Always remember a little goes along way, light application keeps the skin looking natural and clear. Keep it minimal and look natural. Whether you're a young or mature woman, makeup should be applied to enhance and accent the finest features and make you look your best.
Smoky eyes is always a favorite and everyone’s tried out the smoky eyed look for a night on the town but a wedding can adopt this look with just as ease. You will see more and more brides adapting this look for weddings & receptions, again it’s all about the eyes. When you’re playing up your eyes, keep your lips nude and the opposite when you want dramatic lips keep the eyes soft and natural.
GREAT TIPS & TECHNIQUES IN ACHIEVING A PERFECT LOOK FOR 2010
FLAWLESS SKIN:
The first thing you ought to know is your skin type before applying any make up to your skin, is it normal, dry, oily and/or combination skin. Foundation is used to enhance the colour of the complexion. Three basic types may be used, depending upon your skin type. For dry skin, liquid foundation works best whereas semi-liquid is best for combination skins. Indulge your skin and keep it hydrated with a moisturizer and your daytime moisturizer contains SPF 15 or higher to protect your skin.
- A pressed powder is your best friend to help control the oilier moments throughout the day. Translucent powder is used to dust the face and helps that the foundation to stay on longer. Face powder can be used alone, over foundation or over your moisturizer for a natural, sheer, no-shine look.
- Skin under your eyes is more transparent, it tends to look dark. To even out the tone, concealer is a must. Using liquid concealer, gently pat over dark under-eye circles (don't sweep it across the entire area), then blend with your ring finger. Concealer a little goes a long way. Concealer is more dense than foundation, allowing fuller coverage of blemishes and hyper pigmentation. It can be used over foundation or on its own, and has greater staying power.
- Remember, make-up is a great beauty enhancer, but you need to remove it every night and let your skin breathe -- so you don't end up with clogged pores and blemishes.
LIPS:
When applying lipstick always blend it with the lip liner. Then dust your lips with powder so that the lipstick lasts for a longer period of time, and then apply the last coat. Lining your lips is important for creating plump and noticeable lips. It not only defines and accentuates the shape of your lips, but also to keep your lipstick from feathering. For a creamy effect, apply a lip balm to lips before applying lipstick.
For a matte effect, apply lipstick then blot gently with tissue. For a sheer effect, apply lip balm. For smooth, soft lips, take a clean damp washcloth and gently rub lips for 60 seconds before applying lipstick.
BLUSH:
When applying blush, you want the color to look soft and natural, as if it comes from within. To know "where to glow" bend over for 30 seconds, then slowly stand up. Where your cheeks are flushed is where you are meant to blush. Apply your blush there and it will be naturally rosy every time. Tap or lightly blow on the applicator brush to remove any excess blush before applying to prevent a harsh and uneven application.
Cheek color should be used to enhance your complexion, not to change your natural skin tone. Use sparingly for daytime, then add more or a deeper shade for a more dramatic nighttime effect.
Think of your skin as a canvas, the better the canvas, the better the results. It;s all about you - look beautiful, flawless and fabulous ever time.
