Salman Ahmad is a Pakistani rocker and lead of the band Junoon, South Asia's biggest and longest-lasting rock band. Salman is also a UN Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS and working towards spreading awareness about HIV in South Asia. He is currently teaching at Queens College, City University of New York. Although Junoon's two other core members - Ali Azmat and Brian O'Connell left the band in 2005, Salman Ahmad continues to perform as a solo artist under the "Junoon" label and works out of New York, his solo album "Infiniti" was released in 2005. This year Junoon celebrates its 20th Anniversary!

Renowned Ghazal Singer Jagjit Singh died in Mumbai early on Monday, more than a fortnight after he suffered a brain haemorrhage. He was 70. Singh was in critical condition after an operation at the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai, India on Sept 23. A hospital statement said Singh died at 8:10am.
