The Sony Centre will transform into a Diwali Festival Marketplace for the first night of Diwali, putting its own theatrical stamp on the official Year of India in Canada.

Superstar sitar player Niladri Kumar will replace the previously announced Shujaat Khan in a concert with Asha Bhosle, one of the most prolific recording artists in India and a Bollywood legend. Together, they bring warm, lyrical ghazals, natya sangeet, and a selection of Bollywood hits that showcase Asha Bhosle’s supreme versatility and talent to The Royal Conservatory’s Koerner Hall on Sunday, October 2, 2011. They are joined by Nitin Shankar (percussion/music director), Fazal Qureshi, brother of Zakir Hussein, (tabla), and Santosh Mulekar (keyboards).
