Donations For Haiti

The South Asian Community has been very generous and quick in donating what they can to help those in need in Haiti. AM 1550, Sher-E-Punjab and The Sikh Youth has raised approximately $370,000 and is still receiving donations.

Many Gurdwaras  in the lower mainland and Washington came together to assist Sher-E-Punjab in collecting  funds. These  amounts are still being tallied, but the estimated total raised from Sher-E-Punjab and all the Gurdwaras is between $500,000 - $600,000.

With the Federal Government matching the funds raised,  the total will reach approximately $1 - $1.2 Million dollars .

The money will go to the United Sikh Organization who is not charging any admin costs.  Every penny collected will go to Haiti providing food, water, medicine, and other urgent supplies that are needed. A representative from AM 1550, Sher-E-Punjab Radio and from the Sikh Youth, will be going to Haiti to make sure the funds are going directly towards those supplies.

“We have promised the community each penny, each dollar raised will go to those in need in Haiti. No administration costs will be charged.  Let’s help those in need full heartedly, lets help humanity.   Once again, I would like to thank each and every volunteer and especially those that donated.,” said Ajit Singh Badh Director of AM 1550 Sher-E-Punjab Radio.

Mr. Badh  personally took over a million dollars, raised by AM 15550 and the community,  to Pakistan after the earth quake in 2005.  These funds were used to build a hospital and a school.  We will look into similar projects in Haiti but after the immediate need for food and shelter have been met.

If you have not donated and would like to, please call 604 247 1550.
