Join DIL (Developments in Literacy) for an elegant evening at the Four Seasons Hotel benefiting a worthy cause.

Join DIL (Developments in Literacy) for an elegant evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment at 'The Regency Ballroom' at the Four Seasons Hotel taking place on Saturday, June 4th, 2011.

DIL Toronto is proud to announce that Salman Ahmad will be performing at our event:

Salman Ahmad, one of South Asia’s most influential cultural figures, is a musician, physician and United Nations goodwill ambassador. Salman founded South Asia's biggest rock band, Junoon, in 1990, whose sweeping melodies, bhangra rock rhythms and driving guitars led it to become known as "the U2 of South Asia.” He has also popularized a blend of Western rock music and Eastern/Islamic music which has been called “Sufi rock” and hailed as a cultural bridge within South Asia and between the East and West.

With his wife, Samina, he launched the 'Salman & Samina Global Wellness Initiative', focused on interfaith and cross-cultural dialogue, global health and wellness, and music education.
Salman is also a professor at Queens college (CUNY) where he teaches music and poetry from Muslim culture.

Our MC for the evening will be Farah Nasser:

Farah Nasser anchors CP24's Live at 5 and Live at 5:30, bringing Toronto a look at their city and the day's events. Farah has reported in the GTA since she was 18 years old and more than a decade later she feels lucky to work as a journalist calling it "a front row seat to history".

Developments in Literacy (DIL), is a not-for-profit global agency that is dedicated to providing education to disadvantaged children – especially girls -by establishing and operating primary and secondary level schools in Pakistan.

At DIL, we want to make a real difference! So, we sought out where we could make the biggest impact. We found it in girls. We found that by investing in the future of girls, we could change the future of an entire community – and even the world.
