Book Review: I Have Good News and Bad News
I Have Good News and Bad News reads like a personal journal, and in many ways it is. The book's author, Alnoor Rajan Talwar, is sharing his journey since being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in his 40?s. It is a very personal account of his trials, tribulations and triumphs dealing with a disease that is life-changing, not very well understood and complex.
But, the title really highlights what I believe to be the most unusual aspect of this book. Good new, bad news. Whether Alnoor is talking about his spiritual struggles, his finances, alternative therapies, or whatever, he is able to see things from both sides and this is so refreshing and honest and real.
As we journey with Alnoor we see his tenacity and determination to deal with whatever he faces – including doubt, loss of faith, incredible dietary and lifestyle changes, mounting expenses, physical challenges, anger, depression. The depth of self-awareness with which he looks at everything provides us with a window into the inner conflicts and dilemmas he is constantly facing and how he works through them. His courage, persistence and incorrigible spirit are inspiring.
So, when I ask myself why someone should read this book, here is what I think:
This book will inspire you to face adversity, embrace the good and bad, and find ways to continue to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Alnoor’s story will give you hope and encourage you to not give up when life is difficult.
It will encourage you to become an advocate for yourself, your health, your needs, your well-being and what works for you.
Finally, I Have Good News and Bad News provides a wealth of information that may start you on a journey of discovering ways to improve your health and well-being.
