Bollywood Programming at the ROM

The Institute for Contemporary Culture (ICC) at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) presents the North American debut of Bollywood Cinema Showcards: Indian Film Art from the 1950s to the 1980s, a visual journey through the history of Bollywood advertising. Bollywood Cinema Showcards will be on view in the special exhibitions gallery on Level 3 of the Museum from June 11 to October 2, 2011.

Fresh Perspectives tours of Bollywood Cinema Showcards

Local luminaries and special guests will conduct free exhibition tours from a personal point of view

Talks - Beyond Bollywood Cinema Showcards

A lively panel discussion about the collection of showcards featured in the Bollywood Cinema Showcards exhibition. Learn more about Bollywood film advertising in the context of Indian film history and visual culture. Panelists include, Dr. Tejaswini Ganti, Assistant Professor of Anthropology, New York University, Angela Hartwick owner of the Hartwick Collection featured in the exhibition and Dr. Kajri Jain, Assistant Professor, South Asian Visual Culture and Contemporary Art, University of Toronto. Moderated by Dr. Deepali Dewan, ROM Curator of South Asian Art and Culture and Bollywood Cinema Showcards.

Talks - Bollywood, Hollywood and Beyond

Multiple filmmaking traditions come together on one panel to examine the global world of cinema through the eyes of filmmakers, actors and industry executives as they share real-life experiences and discuss the opportunities and challenges of working in Bollywood, Hollywood and Toronto.
