Ashtaprahar 2011 - 24-hour non-stop Kirtan
Ashtaprahar 2011, a nonprofit event is a weekend of celebrated dance, kirtan and unity. The organizing committee is proud to present by far North America?s biggest event ever! The 24-hour non-stop kirtan provides an opportunity for different communities to come together as people are united by the beauty and spirit of the Vedic Indian culture.
We are committed to building a solid reputation within the bhakti-yoga community to ensure a greater success year after year! We are expanding the horizons, by taking this festival to an International level, with artists and guests attending from coast to coast. This year’s event will be on Family Day weekend, February 19th and 20th, and is expected to bring in 5000+ attending guests over the duration of the weekend. We believe that this partnership would benefit both parties as we will have the honor of working with renowned artists who will benefit the community by reaching out with varying age, race and gender groups.
Apart from other spiritual functions that take place in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), we have partnered with and are receiving major support from surrounding mandirs/temples and spiritual/cultural organizations that will help in promoting this event and helping it reach its fullest expectation. We will have promotional material available in both print and online form as well as external media groups covering the event live on location. Outside of our cultural institutes, these religious events are the only way to get our community together and dedicate our time in celebration of the yuga-dharma, hari-nama sankirtan - congregational chanting of the Holy names of the Lord through the Maha-mantra:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna // Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama // Rama Rama Hare Hare
In this age of darkness, greed and mindless pursuit of materialism as well as intoxication and illicit sex govern our society; our main goal is to bring our community together and offer everyone--particularly the youth--a medium which inhibits these detrimental habits from being a part of our lives. We are here in a country where we have established a strong relationship between the Indo-North American communities. We have only progressed this far with the guidance, morals and values we were taught by our elders. These events as well as guidance shown by our great community mentors, like you guide us to great matters of success and help us stay connected to our dharma. Our mission is to spread the holy name through congregational chanting, the highest devotional service that can be rendered to Sri Guru and Gauranga. Please help us in our mission by taking part in this event. Kirtaniya Sada Hari!
