38th Annual Festival of India - July 17-18, 2010
The Festival of India, presented by Toronto?s famous Hare Krishna Centre, has its roots in the vibrant culture and traditions of ancient India and is coming to Toronto on July 17-18, 2010. Every year, close to 40,000 people participate in this unique, two-day festival that provides a feast for the mind, body, and soul!
If you have ever experienced the power of mantra meditation, then prepare to encounter it on a new and thrilling level. Weekend festivities kickoff with a parade on July 17th at 11:00am that will cruise down Yonge Street, beginning at Bloor and make its way down to the lake. During the parade, three, 40-foot tall floats are hand-pulled by participants amidst energetic singing, drumming, and dancing.
Explore India’s Spiritual Roots on Centre Island
After the parade down Yonge Street, celebrations continue at Centre Island for the remainder of the weekend with a massive, colourful, and free festival! The biggest highlight is the free vegetarian feast served to all who attend! The festival also features a stunning arts & culture showcase, dramas, a South Asian Bazaar, exhibits, a children's area, and much more!

Yoga Meltdown
Celebrated as a “festival within a festival”, on Sunday July 18th, the Third Annual Yoga Meltdown will present the public with a chance to unwind, rejuvenate and invigorate themselves with a free outdoor yoga festival. Presenting the spiritual depth of yoga, Yoga Meltdown will feature free outdoor yoga classes, vegetarian cooking demonstrations, mantra meditation circles, Ayurvedic demonstrations, and stage performances.
