The exhibitions will be on display at the AGM until September 7. Admission to the gallery is free.

Stuart Keeler, Director | Curator, Art Gallery of Mississauga:

“In line with its Mission, the AGM connects with the people of Mississauga with visual arts as the catalyst for conversation. The current exhibitions feature strong contemporary work, but more importantly, they also explore themes of home and identity. These themes are particularly relevant to Mississauga, where there is such a global population.”

The four exhibitions are:

011+91 | 011+92
– an exploration of identity by first- and second-generation Canadians of South Asian descent begins with the dial codes for India and Pakistan.

Avantika Bawa, artist, 011+91 | 011+92:

“I was thrilled by the enthusiastic response to the AGM’s summer exhibitions at the opening reception. As an artist, I am interested in transforming the act of drawing into new sculptural gestures that react to architectural spaces, and with its modern spaces, Mississauga has provided me with particularly strong material to work with. I now refer to the AGM as a ‘A Great Moment’. I am proud to be a part of 011+91 | 011+92 and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the rich culture that Mississauga offers, and with Stuart Keeler, an amazing curator.”
