THE NISSAN ALTIMA SEDAN
Entering its sixth year, the Nissan Altima Sedan is redefined with a fourth generation design. It has a reputation for quality and value that makes it one of the leaders in mid size sedan sales and segment share, perfect for those who are looking for excellent fuel efficiency and performance.
For the 2012, the Altima Sedan is available in three well-equipped models that are specifically designed to appeal to a broad range of buyer needs and budgets.
The high-energy 175 HP 4-cylinder engine on the 2.5 S model uses friction-reducing technology to achieve smoothness and performance, while maintaining up to 6.0L/100 km fuel efficiency. Alternatively, the 3.5 S and 3.5 SR models boast 270 horsepower with Nissan’s legendary VQ 3.5-litre V6 engine. The Continuously Variable Transmission (standard on 3.5 S and 3.5 SR, optional on 2.5 S) is a virtually gearless transmission system that makes shift shock and gear hunting a thing of the past, delivering a smooth stream of continuous power at all times.
The 2012 Altima Sedan shines against other mid size sedans with its individual, iconic, sporty design. Its design includes a distinctive Nissan “T-shaped” grille, powerful front fenders, strong wedge character line, forward A pillars and Nissan – family roofline, Altima-style taillights and dual exhaust finishers on all models.
Start the engine with a push of a button, as Nissan’s Intelligent Key push ignition system is standard on all models. That is only the beginning, as Nissan’s top of the line safety features are also standard on all Altima Sedan models, so you can drive in peace regardless of the Altima you chose. Six standard airbags come equipped with sensors to inflate according to crash severity and seat belt usage. Vehicle Dynamic Control helps to keep you on the correct path by reducing engine power or applying brake pressure when needed, and the Traction Control System helps to maintain traction when it senses a drive-wheel spin by reducing throttle or applying brake pressure. When your car is full of passengers, the Electronic Brake force Distribution senses the extra weight and sends additional force to the rear brakes, while the Brake Override Technology and Anti-locking Braking System help to slow down your vehicle and bring it to safe stop in an emergency by overriding accelerator input and preventing wheel lockup.
Altima’s 109.3-inch wheelbase and short front and rear overhangs (with an overall length of 190.7 inches) help provide its agile maneuverability and contribute to its sporty, aggressive appearance. Altima’s chassis layout also offers roomy front and rear interior headroom and legroom, plus ample cargo storage with 15.3 cubic feet of trunk space. Altima is available with 16-inch (optional on 2.5 S) or 17-inch (standard on 3.5 SR) aluminum-alloy wheels or 16-inch steel wheels with covers (2.5 S, 3.5 S). With eight unique exterior colours to chose from and three interior cloth choices or two interior leather choices, the opportunity to customize your sedan to your personal tastes offer something extra for each individual.
An optional Navigation Package, available on the 2.5 S and 3.5 SR models, offers an available hard-drive navigation system to keep you on course and on time. A convenient 6.5 inch touch screen and turn-by-turn Voice Guidance helps you find the best route, all the while pointing out sights of interest and using an adjustable map angle to give you the best sense of where you are.
The new Altima also has an advanced entertainment- focused interior. Available with the 2.5 SL Package and 3.5 SR Leather Package is a Bose® AM/FM audio system with nine speakers, 4.3-inch color display, USB port with iPod® connectivity, Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, MP3/WMA CD-ROM playback and XM® Satellite Radio (XM® subscription required, sold separately).
Other internal comfort features also include padded armrests and stylish metallic-tone or wood-tone trims – with complimenting fabrics and finishers for all interior colours (both cloth and leather appointed). The 2.5 SL Package and 3.5 SR Leather Package also include leather seating surfaces with heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob. The driver’s seat is designed like a cockpit; the instrument panel features fine vision gauges, trip computer with multiple displays for precise readability, and an L- shaped flow of the instrument panel to the center console.
The 2012 Nissan Altima doesn’t just stop there, other available convenience features include an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, automatic on/off headlights, audio control functions located on the steering wheel, power sliding glass moonroof, HomeLink® Universal Transceiver, dual-zone automatic temperature control and rear-passenger air conditioning vents.
Flexible and durable, the Nissan Altima is the ultimate Sedan that is redesigned to cater to various needs as well as enhance your driving experience in Canada.
